It’s Computer Science Week!

Celebrate by coding a fun dance party that uses AI to generate a backdrop for a dancing cat, robot - or moose! The catchy music samplers and familiar block coding environment made this a hit with our students at The Cove last week.

Go here to get started to create your own dance-off.

Need inspiration for the choreography? We recommend watching the video introduction by iLuminate founder Miral Kotb on code.org and this video about iLuminate to see how coding can be a truly creative experience, especially when combined with another art form. Miral Kotb is a female software engineer who has enjoyed dancing from the age of 5 - inspirational stuff for young coders and makers.

TinkerTech Founder Claire Comins was lucky enough to see iLuminate with family back in 2017 in New York. Against a totally blacked-out stage, dancers in suits embroidered with el-wire put on an amazing show. Fantastic choreography, lightning-fast costume changes combined with music that had you rocking in your seats - it was a completely captivating experience.

At the time, iLuminate inspired some maker activities with el-wire (electro-luminescent) superhero projects that we did with some students at Kent Middle School. We’re pretty sure this coding activity will inspire a few more ideas too!
